City of Moncton Announces Recipients of 2023 Heritage Awards 2023-10-25

 

The City of Moncton hosted its annual Heritage Awards Ceremony on Oct. 18 at City Hall as part of the fourth edition of Heritage WeekThe Heritage Conservation Board and the Culture and Heritage department highlighted seven recipients for their outstanding and constant efforts in the preservation, restoration, and protection of heritage properties in the City of Moncton. 

The following awards were presented to designated heritage properties:

  • The Preservation and Restoration Award was presented to Madison Strowbridge & Loyd Miller for their efforts in the preservation and restoration of the former Edgett Residence Building at 24 Austin Street.
  • The Preservation and Restoration Award was presented to Leslie Dryden for their efforts in the restoration of the wood entrance doors of the First Moncton Baptist Church at 50 Church Street. 
  • The Preservation and Restoration Award was presented to Rising Tide Community Initiatives for their efforts in the restoration and reconstruction of the front porch at 146 Church Street. 
  • The Rehabilitation/Adaptive Reuse Award was presented to Fusion Commercial Properties Inc. (Mario Caissie & Andrée Savoie) for their contributions on the rehabilitation of Higgins Block at 679-695 Main Street.
  • The Special Recognition Award for Stewardship was presented to Merchants Bank Developments Ltd. for the long-term protection, maintenance, and stabilization of the Royal Bank Building at 713 Main Street.
  • The Special Recognition Award for Heritage Tradespeople/craftspeople was presented to Scott Harris (Fundy Stonecraft) for their work at the entrance of the former Edward T. Trites residence (89 Church Street) and Dr. Ambrose R. Myers residence and office (15 Alma Street).
  • The Special Recognition Award for Heritage Tradespeople/craftspeople was presented to Lipton Spence for their work on the replacement of the wooden doors at the First Moncton Baptist Church at 50 Church Street.
