Event-Packed Schedule Unveiled for 2026 Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada on Sportsnet in Moncton

Moncton’s Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada organizing committee is promising a diverse, high-energy celebration of the sport as it today announced the local schedule for Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada festivities starting Thursday, Jan. 15, and culminating on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026 with a broadcast marathon of all seven Canadian NHL teams live in action on Sportsnet, hosted by Ron MacLean.  

The event lineup offers a full schedule of local school visits beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 14, including a visit to Elsipogtog First Nation School, plus a chance to see the Stanley Cup*, hockey clinics, meet-and-greets with hockey legends, and an exhibition game featuring local celebrities and NHL alumni.

Joining Ron MacLean for the week’s festivities in Moncton is Sportsnet’s entire Hockey Night in Canada panel, featuring Kevin Bieksa, Jennifer Botterill, Elliotte Friedman, and Kelly Hrudey, along with David Amber and Kyle Bukauskus. On Friday, Jan. 16, the Sportsnet broadcasters will take part in a local celebrity and alumni game, showcasing their skills alongside former NHLers Wendel Clark, Adam Graves, Jon Sim, and Andrew Ference, plus local fan favourites Taylor MacDougall (general manager, Moncton Wildcats), Simon Richard (Canadian National Blind Hockey Team), Kelsey Tessier (player development, Moncton Wildcats), and many others.

We’re eager for visitors and viewers across Canada to witness our dedication to hockey and the community spirit it inspires.”

Local highlights complementing the Sportsnet broadcast on Saturday, Jan. 17 include the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues hosting the Dalhousie University Tigers in a women’s USport contest at the Avenir Centre at 1 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. match between the QMJHL Moncton Wildcats and the Chicoutimi Sagueneens. Earlier in the day, the Timbits U7 Jamboree takes place at the Byron Dobson Memorial Arena in Riverview at 7 a.m., followed by a continuation of the previous day’s Eastern Regional Blind Hockey Tournament at the Moncton Coliseum at 10 a.m. The schedule also includes a ball hockey tournament for ages 8 to 10 organized by Mud City Hockey slated for noon on Main Street near the Avenir Centre.

The 26th annual Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada welcomes hockey enthusiasts from across the country to join Moncton-area residents and visitors in celebrating Canada’s game. Other highlights include: 

  • Parade: Fans and families can gather downtown to take in the Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada Parade, which will leave from the Moncton Market at 11:30 a.m. and travel up Main Street to the Avenir Centre.*
  • Festival: Downtown Place next to the Avenir Centre is the focal point of the afternoon festivities, with the Opening Ceremony at the Ian Fowler Oval at noon followed by a festival featuring family activities, music, and food vendors.
  • Sportsnet broadcasts: Sportsnet’s Ron MacLean will host the live Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada broadcast from Downtown Place beginning at 2 p.m., followed by Hockey Night in Canada at 6:30 p.m., with Sportsnet’s analysts and special local guests showcasing Moncton’s vibrant hockey community.
