Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 16.Keep in mind: If you're not within arms' reach, you've gone too far. It’s always important to supervise children around the water. For more information on the Pool Admission Standards, please visit:Outdoor Pools and Splash Pads | City of Moncton Why am I not allowed to use goggles that cover my nose? No glass containers or bottles are allowed.Food and drinks are not allowed in the pool itself. Both pools have canteens that offer a small selection of snacks for purchase. Is parking available? Pool Admission Standards must be followed at all times. For more information on the Pool Admission Standards, please visit: Outdoor Pools and Splash Pads | City of Moncton Why am I not allowed to bring my own flotation devices? While flotation devices like inflatable toys or arm floaties may be fun, they can pose safety risks in supervised pool environments. This guideline is in place to ensure the safety of all swimmers, maintain clear lines of sight for lifeguards, and provide equal supervision to everyone in the water. Life vests and personal flotation devices (PFDs) that are worn to help swimmers with limited swimming ability may sometimes be permitted, but must be approved and inspected by staff onsite. There is a selection of life vests on site at each pool. Why is my child required to do a swim test? Swim tests are for persons aged 11 and under who may want less restrictions during open swims. Children aged 12 and over are not required to pass a swim test, however lifeguards can implement restrictions for any swimmer, regardless of age, if there is a safety concern. This could include enforcing PFD usage or limiting access to the shallow end only. The Swim Test includes: • Jump into Deep Water• Surface Support for 1 minute• Swim 15 meters horizontal without touching the bottom or side of the pool. These standards are to be completed in a safe sequence. Lifeguards must be completely satisfied with the swimmer’s capability for successful completion. Lifeguards can deny bracelets or limit the swimmer to the shallow end of the pool if the lifeguard feels their swim skills warrant it. This includes anyone who has already passed a swim test or for a swimmer 12 years or older. Safety will always come first. How many lanes does each pool have? Both Centennial Pool and East End Pool have 3 lanes for lap swims. For more information on lap swims, please visit: Outdoor Pools and Splash Pads | City of Moncton
